Welcome to the technology learning labs at the elementary schools!
Technology classes are taught by: Mrs. Hennion (firstname.lastname@example.org) at Forrest and Radburn; Mr. Joannidis (email@example.com) at Edison, Warren Point, and Westmoreland; and Mrs. Mottola (firstname.lastname@example.org) at Lyncrest and Milnes.
Grade 1 classes come to the technology labs on a rotating basis for a 30-minute session every 2 weeks. An introduction to the parts of a computer and log on/off procedures are taught, along with mouse skills and educational games.
Students in grade 2 spend 30 minutes twice a week in the computer labs to learn the skill of touch typing on a keyboard through a variety of applications and activities.
The elementary technology curriculum is aligned with elementary technology standards and is integrated with the Social Studies and Science curricula in grades 3-5.
Students in grades 3-5 spend 45 minutes once a week in the technology labs. Proper keyboarding techniques are reinforced, and students are introduced to a variety of computer applications using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
